There Is So Much Happening!

This is what I hear most often nowadays, “there’s so much happening"!”

The world is essentially upside down, values have changed, we are more distracted than ever, and we can't really make sense of what’s going on! I can’t … I know that for sure.

I could expound on planetary placements and how they are affecting our lives right now, and will continue to do so for the next 2 years, give it or take it. I mean, astrologically speaking, we are always affected by some planetary transit… it’s just that, at the moment, it has been absurdly challenging. If you’re rising pisces like me and heard all astrologers say that you’ll have good fortune for the next 7 years, and it feels like you’re fighting monkeys in a forest in India , well… you’re not alone. I don’t feel very fortunate at the moment either, even thought the monkeys are all in my head.

We are living during a unique time in humanity, and even though we have all sorts of resources, and all comforts we could’ve gotten, we can hardly deal with life, we feel lonely, depressed, overwhelmed … I’d better stop using words to describe how we feel, or this blog will be way too long. There is too much happening, and we don’t know what to do about it, we feel powerless. However, is there something that can be done? Do we have any power to create change, or to cope with life as it is right now?Can we face whatever comes our way?

I was watching a podcast where the man being interviewed is a professor of geopolitics, talking about the present events in the world including the present war. His description of the situation was really good, easy to follow, and he made 3 prediction as to what we could expect to see happening in the next 3 to 4 years. Let’s say that, his predictions could become another Terminator movie, not a pretty future by any means. At the end of his presentation, the interviewer asked him how could the average person, who simply lives day to day life - get up, practice yoga, go to work, try to make a living, etc, prepare for such grim future. This man, the most prominent geopolitical analyst in the world, an extremely rational brain, answers the question with “believe in God.” He didn’t have an incredibly elaborate solution… he simply said believe in God. The continuation of that thought was amazing, which I will only paraphrase… we are here to find out who we are, to help each other, to have close relationships, and to understand there’s a greater consciousness behind everything we experience. Moreover, focusing on family, truth, and actions that are dharmic in nature, and also understanding what it is to be truly human, to live in love, and to have a deep connection to that which we call god. That’s the spiritual awakening that is necessary for the world to change. We don't need cosmic magic, we only need a change of heart ! Although, I’ll say, some unicorns and dragons would be fun to have… hahahah…

There is so much happening, but can we simplify? Could we focus on that which really matters? Are we still able to redirect our lives to that which will be an experience worth living? I know we need to be aware of the world around us, but in facing something we can’t control, how can we live through all of this? How can we be more human?

The study of yoga is here to help us connect to that which we believe is too far removed from our reality, to serve as a tool to self knowledge and personal growth.

Hope to see you on the mat
